Help & FAQ

Get VISEC running.

Answers to the questions we hear most, and how to reach us.

What is VISEC?

Video surveillance software for Windows. It shows, records and plays back video from your cameras, locally or remotely, and adds plate recognition, access control and QR reading.

How do I see video?

Press the scan button to find cameras on your network, then pick a camera to watch it live.

Which cameras work?

Nearly all ONVIF IP cameras, including Acti, Axis, Bosch, Brickcom, CNB, CP Plus, Dahua, Dynacolor, Geovision, Hanwha Techwin, Hikvision, Honeywell, LG, Mobotix, Panasonic, QNAP, Samsung, Sanyo and Sony.

What does my PC need?

Windows 10 or later, 64-bit, with 8 GB of memory. The program itself takes about 200 MB.

For the AI features, including plate recognition, a graphics card with 4 GB and DirectX 12 support, preferably Nvidia. Without one, VISEC uses the processor instead.

Then space for recordings, usually from 100 GB. For 4 to 5 cameras, a 500 GB drive typically holds 3 to 4 months.

Are any graphics cards a problem?

Intel UHD Graphics and similar built-in chips can be unstable, which may be related to driver updates. A dedicated card avoids it.

How long are recordings kept?

As long as your drive allows. You set the storage limit in the control panel, and VISEC keeps events for months, or years on a large drive.

How many cameras can one PC run?

It depends on resolution, frame rate, bandwidth and memory. Typically 16 to 100+ cameras per server, and up to 200.

How does motion detection work?

VISEC analyses the video itself, so any camera works without extra sensors. Choose the regions to watch, set the sensitivity, and record only when something moves.

What alerts can I get?

An email with a picture the moment motion is detected, or an HTTP post to connect your own software.

Can I watch remotely?

Yes, from a web browser or with the client application, which can also manage several VISEC servers.

VISEC says it can't load the AI models

Windows is missing the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime. Download and install it, then restart VISEC.
